Millicent Road Chard 2009 dozen with 3 bonus Katnook Sticky
Millicent Road Chardonnay 2009
Perfect unique flavours of Coonawarra with this seamlessly integrated Chardonnay from a highly regarded winery - it’s alive with vibrant characteristics. Bright lemon in the glass, this Old World style Chardonnay has a leesy nose of savoury citrus, cracked yeast and hints of freshly baked bread. The vibrant, complex palate is layered with seamlessly integrated nut, peach, melon flavours and nice textural persistence. You could spend easily $25 to get something in the vicinity of this little ripper so my advice is to stock up and enjoy!
There is quince and raisin at the forefront, with honeysuckle and candied peach. Liqueur Melon is subtle in the background, coupled with some toffee aromas. Lemon zest, apples also play their part in the bouquet. The palate is thick, rich and coats immediately. The flavours come in waves. The first is citrus, lemon and lime, which is quickly followed by green apple. The palate is then awash with raisin and quince, that rush over each other. As the wine swirls back and forth, side to side, toffee pokes its head out and mingles with a new flavour: raisin pudding. Candied apple and peach are some of the final flavours, and are caressed with some lovely honeysuckle, nutmeg, cinnamon and a touch of apricot. The finish is lingering, soft and definitely moreish.
