This 2003 Cotes du Rhone is ripe and rich and shows plenty of the warmth of the vintage, balanced by firm tannins and a long, elegant finish. A blend of This gentle light-to medium-bodied red is a blend of grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah and Carignan, with ripe red berry and spicy, herby aromas and raspberry, red plum and cedar flavours.
Expect its savoury notes to kick in when consumed with a beef or lamb stew.champions and the finesse the Rhone Valley astoundingly provides with such a blend.
A spanking Côtes du Rhône from an excellent vintage and a smallish producer based near Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Just across the Rhône river from the esteemed vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, this 88-acre estate (named after the ruins of an 11th century castle) is owned and operated by Rodolphe de Pins, a UC Davis graduate and former member of the winemaking staff at Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe (in Châteauneuf-du-Pape).
The winemaker, Rodolphe de Pins, has worked at Henschke in the Eden Valley... De Pins is well known in the Australian wine industry, not only for visiting us to exhibit his Chateau de Montfaucon wines, but for also doing a vintage at Henshcke in the Barossa in 1992. His wines are available here in varying quantities and their prices, when compared with the escalating cost of some Rhône Wines, represent excellent value.
