In all - Yes , it is a food wine, still, this beast can also be consumed daily as a health ritual for long life of fine wine and lip smacking smugness.
The essence of this traditional blend is old bush vine Grenache from the deep soils of Barossa blended with intense ripe Shiraz and spicy & plush, perfumed Mataro. It is full flavoured, generous and earthy. With a years cellar maturation it’s now ready to be enjoyed.
This is a classic premium Barossa Valley blend of old bush vine 52% Grenache, 34% Shiraz and 14% Mataro. The appearance is thick, unctuous bulls blood crimson, deep and brooding with a vibrant mahogany red colour and long legs coating the glass. The bouquet is intense, full of dark berries, light spicy brandy soaked raisins and rich fine grained oak. It’s harmoniously integrated with hints of chocolate, earthy spices and fine liquorice. Premium oak is obvious but nicely restrained.
Typically the wines from Barossa Valley are rich and robust with high alcohol and a distinctive earthy spice character. The appearance is deep and brooding with a vibrant mahogany red colour and long legs coating the glass. The bouquet is intense, full of dark berries, brandy soaked raisons and rich fine grained oak. It’s harmoniously integrated with hints of chocolate, cloves and fine liquorice. Premium oak is obvious but nicely restrained. On the palate the entry shows rhubarb and musk before the savoury, earthy elements of olives, smoky bacon and anise kick in. The alcohol sweetness leads to a long smooth finish with mellow tannins and lingering aftertaste.
On the palate this wine is a journey from the freshness of a country farmers market with ripe berries, spices and herbs through a gourmet deli with smoked meats, savoury olive tapenades and freshly roasted coffee to a rustic country kitchen with hearty baked pies, fruitcakes and puddings. It’s a complex array of sensations and flavours with generous mouth-feel and a long, smooth finish.
