I love higher altitude vineyards producing premium quality fruit. The preceding vintages of this lovely wine have received ravenous accolades, so when the 'Terra Rossa' of perfect quick draining Basalt over Limestone is added, we should agree it is a pretty heady mix of all the good things coming beautifully together!
Here is a hand made Boutique winery-made Merlot monster! Immediately powerful in colour, this wine entices you with its magnificent legs from the very first lazy swirl in the glass. A heady plum and cassis palate construction blows me away with a rich tapestry of wonderful mid sweet fruit, lovely engaging tannins and an engrossing thought provoking, powerful length. Perfectly aged now with some 5 years behind it, I bought the entire stocks of this wine because it is so good!
This wine was loved by the team and all thought it was a Cabernet Merlot blend due the range of fruit and complexity. It is however straight High country Merlot and will just change your mind overnight on this varietal. So, be quick and get some early!
