WOW! 2014 is showing some serious competitive quality stakes to the already excellent vintages of 12/13. The Barossa wine region might get the first word on Shiraz but Central Victoria is producing some big voluptuous reds that simply define a normal Aussie shiraz drinking style to perfection. This deep and powerful, bold and aromatic Shiraz is the richest of the reds from this premium supplier. Dark cassis fruit aromas with an underlying note of allspice and oak. The flavour is lushness, layered and rounds out on the palate for simply ages. It's big! All-spice, ripe plum and black pepper. A developed style that shows a full bodied wine, with an excellent firm tannin structure.
Enjoy with hearty lamb & roast meats and rich sauces or your favourite game. Perfect for the cold nights ahead.
Only estate grown fruit is used to produce this wine. Aged in a mix of American and French oak for 12 months allowing it to mellow and tannins to soften. Drink now or comfortably age for eight years plus as the tannins will soften further with age. We have a limited supply of this bad boy and at this price you have no excuse.
James Halliday: 92 (2012) Estate-grown and matured in a mix of American and French oak of undisclosed age. The vintage has filled the palate with blackberry, plum, licorice and pepper, flanked by ripe, plump tannins and vanillan oak. Yet another strike for Longleat. Excellent value.
