This delightful unoaked wine displays intense aromas of passionfruit, gooseberries and fresh pineapple with only a slight hint of herbaceous characters such as capsicum and tomato bush leaves. These characters follow through onto the palate and the fresh, crisp acid provides a lingering, refreshing finish. An enjoyable Summer wine that is best served chilled.
The growing season in 2009 was challenging for both grape growers and winemakers. The heat waves in early February devastated a lot of the fruit and shocked the vines into heat stress. Harvesting began a little later than usual due to the intense heat, however the fruit did eventually recover and the ensuing wine is exciting. Sugar levels were lower than previous years, meaning alcohols across the board will be lower, however flavour profiles and intensity levels are evident.
With a focus on traditional winemaking craftwork and state-of-the-art technology, McPherson wines are designed to be fruit driven with generous, mouth-filling flavours. There is also a focus on elegance, which is the hallmark of wine that is so enjoyable with food.
