  Pol Roger Brut Vintage 2004

Pol Roger Brut Vintage.gif

Made from the traditional house vintage blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay from 20 Grands and Premiers crus vineyards in the “montagne de Reims” and the “côte des blancs”. Produced only in limited quantities the Brut Vintage 2002 has been aged for 9 years in their cellars before being released onto the market. Champagne’s geographical location engenders capricious weather. For this reason, since their foundation in 1849 Pol Roger has observed the tradition of not releasing a vintage-dated champagne unless the climatic conditions permitted the production of grapes of outstanding ripeness.
A vintage champagne must, above all else, be a balanced champagne. This balance depends on the right blend of healthy grapes, a good potential alcohol and correct acidity. Devotees who have the patience to age their champagnes are rewarded with a much more complex and richer wine.

A golden yellow straw-like colour, bright and full of intensity with attractive lingering bubbles. The aromas have enticing notes of fresh honey, candied grapefruit and lime. On the palate a dominating fruitiness with light biscuit character. A full and long texture displaying freshness and vinosity. The wine is balanced with remarkable harmony. An amazingly pure champagne.

Pair with dishes like chicken with a foie gras stung, capon with morel mushrooms...
