This Pinot Noir is the latest release named after the critically endangered Cromwell Chafer Beetle, which is found in only one place in the world, Cromwell. The 81 hectare site has now been set aside as the Cromwell Chafer Beetle Nature Reserve to monitor and protect their habitat. This wine is very approachable now.
Ripe hand picked fruit, gentle winemaking and maturation in French oak, 28% new, have resulted in a very approachable and rich wine, with aromas of ripe cherries, raspberries and Black Doris plums, a rich and silky smooth palate with fine grainy tannins to match the fruit. Excellent value, drinking fantastically well now and will develop and cellar for several years.
