Rating: 92 "Deep garnet, bricking hue; showing some cedary development with black olive pasta and red and black fruit on display; very drying and tannic, nonetheless, there is a rich vein of fruit that should overcome the softening of the tannins over time." - James Halliday Well structured, opulent blueberry and blackcurrant characters on the palate, balanced French oak flavours well integrated with juicy, tight tannins that ensure excellent length of flavour and elegance. This compelling Cabernet Sauvignon will improve further over the next 10 years. Langhorne Creek is only an hour to the south east of Adelaide on the shores of Lake Alexandrina. A beautiful region in it’s own right, there are a number of interesting and welcoming cellar doors in the area. A perfect day trip can be complimented with a snoop through the numerous antique shops in nearby Strathalbyn. The Langhorne Creek region was selected because of the flooding of the rivers. This natural aspect of the region has made "The Creek" the envy of many a grape grower. The soil and climate provide excellent conditions for great vines and in turn, great wines. These vineyards take full advantage of the Bremer and Angus River floods. Nutrient rich river silt washes into the alluvial sandy loam each flood. Cool and moderate winters with cold crisp mornings and warm afternoons nurture the fruit into maturity and the pre-vintage days of summer bring on the sugars and deliver sensational fruit. With excellent fruit being the secret to great wine, the soil and climate play an important role in the process. Although like most other places we could do with more rain, the region delivers quality wine year after year!
Vibrant, deep red colour with purple hues. Ripe, dark fruit/blueberry aromas, eucalypt mint and a hint of violets reflect distinctive Langhorne Creek regional characteristics. Well structured, opulent blueberry and blackcurrant characters on the palate, balanced French oak flavours well integrated with juicy, tight tannins that ensure excellent length of flavour and elegance. This compelling Cabernet Sauvignon will improve further over the next 10 years. - notes from Winery This exceedingly limited release is the first of its kind from BIA and it represents nothing less than the most remarkable wine to ever emerge from this estate. Leafy blackcurrant fruit, suggestions of mint and spice, perfectly measured oak, beautifully textured tannins and excellent length- it's got it all, and all it needs is more time. 94 Points - Tyson Stelzer WBM Top 100, June 2008
