Katnook Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 |

"From what I’ve tasted so far, I prefer 2009 Coonawarra vintage reds over 2008 – more ‘classic’, for want of a better word. Mixed berries and blackcurrant, tobacco and mint with coffee nougat oak riding high. It’s medium weight, with a drily tannic presence and perhaps slightly too high acidity, but there’s also no alcohol heat showing either – the shape and structure of it is, you’d have to say, excellent. Has a lithe, yet masculine appeal. A good release from Katnook. Should cellar well. Rated : 93 Points" - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.
Wayne Stehbens, a veteran of over thirty Coonawarra vintages, has markedly refined the style. His philosophy is to capture varietal distinction and regional excellence, with complementary oak and maturation flavours. Bottled under screwcap, Katnook Estate Cabernet Sauvignon typically shows ripe middle palate focus with intense blackcurrant mulberry aromas, generous pure-fruit flavours, finely grained tannins, underlying mocha notes and excellent flavour length. The wines have an outstanding reputation for medium to long term cellaring.
