  Petaluma Merlot 2010

The brilliant darkness in the glass comes from the concentrated dark fruit that were used. As the glass nears the nose you can be swept up in the plum and lifted spice, intoxicating on its own. Sipping the liquid and the plum carries over, this wine is soft and velvety. There's a bit of spice. And tannin abounds with lashings of chocolate and a certain earthiness that lingers through the finish.

Coonawarra probably needs no introduction as it is one of Australia's premier growing regions, famous for reds of great depth and complexity. The secret is the amazingly rich red terra rossa soil, the limestone and pure underground water coupling with long ripening season for the parcels of fruit.
Petaluma gets only the best, hand-picked, fruit for its Merlot from Coonawarra. And it shows with a very approachable wine that takes Merlot seriously and lets it shine in all its glory.

From Winery:
A typical Coonawarra bouquet of dark cherry, cassis and spice alongside leafy touches. Soft, fine and supple tannins complement the ripe red fruit flavours with hints of cedar adding great complexity to this fruit driven wine.
