Paringa Estate Peninsula Pinot Noir 2017

paringa-peninsula-pn-17.gif

Genuine ripe pinot characteristics with considerable depth and flavour. The bouquet offers fresh cherry fruit, blueberry and some nutmeg spice and subtle oak characters. Full and flavoursome on the palate, with fine grained tannins and a long finish. Enjoy right away or cellar for 4-5 years.

Awards and Accolades

2015 Vintage: 94 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion
"Sourced from three leased Red Hill vineyards plus other growers; 100% destemmed fruit fermented in open 2.5-tonne lots, 21 days on skins, matured for 11 months on lees in French barriques. Light, bright and clear crimson-purple; the multifaceted bouquet leads into a succulently fruited cherry and plum palate surrounded by gently briary tannins, the two parts combining synergistically. Likely to be formidably good by '20."

2014 Vintage: 96 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion
"Exceptional retention of crimson-purple hue; in classic Paringa style, offering that extra dimension of varietal fruit, with no hint of over-extraction, even less 'dry reddish'. Supple and mouthfilling, it offers a fail-safe journey into secondary aromas and flavours in the years ahead."

From the Winery

The Peninsula or 'PE' label represents the first tier in the Paringa Estate range. In recent years Paringa has renewed its focus in ensuring the Peninsula range over delivers on quality, this Pinot Noir is no exception.

The fruit for this wine was sourced from our three leased Red Hill Vineyards and a number of other high quality grower vineyards across the Mornington Peninsula. Challenging weather during flowering resulted in lower crop levels. This was followed by a favorably temperate growing season. Flavours developed slowly on the vine allowing for a vibrant but complex fruit profile.

Fruit was 100% de-stemmed and fermented in 2.5 tonne open fermenters. The fruit spent an average of 21 days in the fermenter on skins. Maturation took place over 11 months on lees in French oak barriques.
