A blend of Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara.
Corte Giara is the negociant label of Allegrini. The wines are made by Allegrini from fruit bought in from outside their own vineyards. They have a similar stamp of quality that sets them aside from most of the Veronesi wines produced at this level. The Bardolino grapes for this wine are grown in vineyards situated in the Eastern morenic hills of Lake Garda. They are approximately 250m above sea level and face south/southwest. The soils are of fluvial-glacial origin. There are 3,000 vines per hectare, approximately 23 years old and trained according to the pergola trellising system. The grapes read more...were hand-picked at the beginning of October. This red blend is bright ruby red in colour with plenty of fresh red fruit character on the nose, redcurrant and raspberry with a touch of bitter almond. On the palate it is dry and elegant with cherry and plum fruit, soft, rounded tannins, and a smooth finish.
Corte Giara is an innovative project, started in 1989 by the Allegrini family and a selected group of grape growers in Valpolicella, the renowned winemaking district in Veneto, in north-eastern Italy. Corte Giara's philosophy is to deliver high value wines, made for everyday drinking, with a modern and stylish appeal, that are true to their roots, as well as eclectic.
