Awards and Accolades
2014 Vintage: 92 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "50/40/10%, hand-picked, 90% destemmed, 10% whole bunches, wild yeast open-fermented, 7 days on skins, matured in 1 2500l foudre and used French and American hogsheads for 12 months. A synergistic blend, the grenache more than holding its own, making the wine ready to go without further delay. Value+."
From the Winery
From selected vineyards around McLaren Vale this wine shows the great synergy these varieties have for each other. The dark fruits and chocolate notes of Shiraz, with the red fruits and spice of Grenache are complimented by the floralness and delicacy of Touriga.
All varieties are picked and vinified separately. Fermentation takes place in open fermenters with regular pump overs. 20% whole bunches are incorporated in the Grenache component. After fermentation is complete the different wines are basket pressed to new French oak (40%), 2 year old French (35%) and seasoned French and American oak (35%) for 18 months. Each batch is carefully barrel selected, blended and bottled.
