Another perfect example from Bleasdale in Langhorne creek! A Shiraz to blow your mind on a very limited budget. I particularly enjoy being able to offer seriously good value , premium quality shiraz that sits so well at the $40-$50 range making this price simply excellent value all round.
Brassy and beautifully bold this wine is choc-a-block full of dark berries and chocolate mocha with wonderful hints of pepper and spice and although drinking superbly now - will sit comfortably in the cellar for years to come rewarding those that stock up on it while it is available. The tannins meld wonderfully with fruit to add real structure to the deep satisfying fruit weight and will continue alongside the wine to develop nicely at all times.
Cheers.
Awards and Accolades
96 Points, Special Value Wine - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Matured for 12 months in new (24%) and used French oak, gold medal Queensland Wine Show '15. The aromas and flavours offer a layered canvas of spice, licorice, black cherry and plum, the frame easily provided by ripe, soft tannins and French oak. While still medium-bodied, it does give full-bodied a nudge. Its balance will probably mean most is consumed before it reaches its full potential."
2013 Vintage: 95 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "An altogether serious shiraz, with sultry black fruits joined by nuances of spice and oak on the bouquet, the full-bodied palate picking up welded-together blackberry, plum, licorice and dark chocolate powder flavours, tannins and oak also contributing positively."
From the Winery
Our Generations Wines celebrate multiple generations of family involvement and grower relationships. Shiraz was the first red grape variety planted in Langhorne Creek at Bleasdale in 1858 and continues to thrive today. Individual vineyard blocks are picked and crushed separately before maturation and blending.
Flavours of ripe plums and other dark berries are layered with liquorice, pepper and fresh spices, these marry beautifully with subtle oak nuances giving a complex wine balanced by smooth round tannins.
