After seeing the 2012 fly out the door its a relief to have this excellent wine available again. The nose is ripe with red fruit, wild strawberry and dark plum aromas. More savoury tones of liquorice and black pepper perfectly balances the fruity intensity. The palate is intense with black cherry, pepper and cigar box aromas. 20 months in fine-grained French oak adds structure and powdery rich tannins that will see this wine age well into the next decade.

The 2012 vintage was dry and conditions during ripening were excellent with mild days and cool to cold nights, ensuring good acidity in the fruit. The generally lower crop potential and large canopies resulted in rapid ripening in early varieties and some of the best quality fruit for a number of years.
Pairing: Go retro and bring out the carpet bag steak! For you younger ones, that's a scotch fillet steak stuffed with freshly shucked oysters and wrapped in bacon.
