It does not get much better than this folks!
Big robust deep red with powerful garnet hues await the opening of this beauty!
The bouquet is of ripe dark fruits combined with confectionery and floral notes framed by subtle oak and spice characters which represent the cooler climate characters of the two regions.
The never ending palate shows a great vintage with a full-bodied, powerful wine offering good depth of fruit. The generous palate is packed full of ripe, juicy blackberries, with added spice, while the structure is well defined with ripe approachable tannins and a lingering finish.
Cellaring Potential Powerful and vibrant in its youth, this wine will comfortably cellar for 6 years or more.
Vintage 2004 experienced near perfect ripening conditions in South Western Australia – a beautiful, still ‘Indian Summer’ with cool nights, and clear warm days. The fantastic weather during ripening allowed fruit to be harvested at the optimum level of physiological ripeness.
A significant portion of the fruit was crushed with open rollers to introduce whole berries into the fermentation, which was carried out in tank. Some of the blend finished fermentation in new French oak barriques, while a portion was given a period of extended maceration on skins. The wine was matured for 12 months in predominantly French oak (50% new barriques).
