Chief winemaker Loïc le Calvez brings his French expertise to the art of crafting contemporary sparkling wines that capture the essence of the cool climate of Tasmania. Clover Hill is an elegant wine with superb length. A highlight of clover hill is its structure and finesse; subtly complex, it reveals rich, creamy layers of Chardonnay fruit which integrate beautifully with the sherbet Pinot characters.
Clover hill is one of Australia's principal Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meuniere cuvées. Since its debut vintage in 1991, Clover Hill has gained a reputation for its uncompromising quality, its elegance and finesse, and distinguished Tasmanian style.
Arguably I know, but I do consider this to be one of the best we produce and great value for money! Champagne in colour with a persistent fine bead and gentle foaming mousse, this exquisite bubbly has a beautiful bouquet of peaches, pears and toasted almond characters. The palate displays an elegant integration of citrus and bread dough, an underlying creamy complexity with exceptional length and lasting flavours.
I particularly enjoy the complexity of this sparkling as it drinks well with or without food and always raises an eyebrow of interest as to "How can they afford French ?"
