VINEYARD DESCRIPTION Fruit for this wine was sourced from vineyards across the Wairau and Awatere Valleys in the Marlborough region. Typically warm days and cool nights provide ideal growing conditions for Sauvignon Blanc. Our vineyards have excellent vine vitality and produce fruit with intense flavour and concentration.
WINEMAKING The 2010 vintage provided grapes which were harvested at varying levels of ripeness over an intense three-week period, resulting in an array of flavours and blending options. The fruit was crushed, pressed and settled for 24 hours before the juice was racked clean. Both neutral and aromatic yeast strains were used and fermentation was conducted at 12-14oC to ensure maximum retention of delicate flavours and aromatics. Post blending and prior to bottling, the wine was infused with a fine bead of bubbles.
WINEMAKER’S COMMENT This Lightly Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc is bursting with gooseberry, passionfruit, fresh citrus, melon and nettle-dominant herbaceous aromas. The wine finishes clean and crisp, with a lingering sparkle in the mouth. The small delicate bubbles of this Frizzante style wine enhance the citrus and gooseberry flavours.
IDEAL DRINKING This wine is best consumed on release while the fruit flavours are intense and fresh.
