  Paringa Estate Chardonnay 2013

In 2007 Paringa Estate was named best Australian winery of the year by wine writer James Halliday, and it's not hard to see why that title still deservedly applies. They are the quiet achievers responsible for turning out elegant and superbly regional wines from the Mornington Peninsula. Chardonnay loves the cool, so it’s no wonder it’s embraced this region with vigour and is expressed so well in this wine. There’s the usual suspect aromas of peach and citrus as well as some nutty characters that all add flavour and texture to the palate which is long and generous with a clean acid finish.

James Halliday: 94 (2012)
The grapes are hand-picked, whole bunch-pressed direct to a mix of new and used French barriques for fermentation of unclarified juice; matured in barrel for 11 months with lees stirring, but no mlf. The complex bouquet leads into a focused and powerful palate with grapefruit, white peach, cashew and oak characters, sustained by persistent acidity on the lingering finish.

James Halliday: 94 (2011)
The 2012 Paringa Estate ‘Estate’ chardonnay is from a single block of fruit on the North side of our Callanans Road Vineyard in Red Hill South. Whole bunch fruit was pressed to barrel and fermented in French oak barriques (30% new). Barrel maturation took place on lees over the next ten months during which the chardonnay was stirred monthly.
