Delicious South Australian Pinot Grigio at a fantastic price. In the glass it's a medium straw colour with shimmering green tints. Fresh pear and apple aromatics guide the nose, delivering a touch of stone fruit also. The palate carries through with more of the same, and is crisp and clean on the finish. Great with fresh seafood!
From the Winery
The grapes for this wine were sourced Angove family vineyards and other premium Riverland growers. Soils are predominantly red sandy loam over limestone, on gently undulating east west ridges. This year has been great for aromatic varietal expression, with many of the white varieties harvested later but with lower alcohol levels than in previous years. White varieties also benefi ted from a juicy natural acidity contributing to excellent palate weight and flavour persistence overall.
Picked late at night to harvest the grapes as cold as possible, the grapes were transported to the winery and pressed using modern membrane tank presses. After cold settling the clear juice was carefully racked to cooled fermentation tanks and inoculated with selected yeasts. Cool fermentation was followed by minimal handling filtration and bottling at the Angove winery
Awards and Accolades
Steve Leszczynski, QWine “A good drink for the budget conscious - very approachable with plenty of easy drinking appeal. Poached pear, green melon, apple crumble, some cinnamon like spice which lingers. A dab of sweetness with tightish acid tucked behind that sprinkle of spice. The value and good drinking factor for 10 bucks can’t be disputed.”
Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front “The Long Row wines often offer very good/excellent value but the grigio has largely let the side down thus far. This release steps things in a better direction. It’s fruity, musky, fresh and appealing, with crisp red apple and pear flavours doing their job admirably. Simple, easy-going appeal with decent flavour/intensity.”
