When one thinks of New Zealand, especially the Otago region, it’s the diverse landscape that usually springs to mind (thanks you Peter Jackson), something Sarak-Kate Dinneen has in a way mimicked in the incredible variety of flavours in this. Exotic fruits, touches of ginger and spice, and a satisfyingly crunchy consistency, which makes this rather moreish. Aroma of pear, so often associated with this wine, and sweet-yet-slightly-yeasty brioche. There’s a viscosity to this, which gives a nice weight, and a silky smooth mouth feel (languid would be the word that describes it best).
Wine NZ Magazine: 5 Stars At the drier end of the gris spectrum, the judges were impressed by the purity and fragrance of this Central Otago expression. Skilton called it a “delicious appealing wine with very pungent aromatics of pear, fresh apricot and nectarine, with concentration and lovely lift of freshness”. Burzynska revelled in its “lifted notes of jasmine running through a juicy palate of fresh pear with good concentration”, while McKenna praised its “clean, ripe pear flavours”.
