One of this region's biodynamic leaders has gone a step further, whole bunch and wild ferment winemaking adding a luscious texture and body. It's rich and almost unctuous, redolent with ripe stone fruits, and has a place at the dinner table where richer white meats are on the menu. Pale straw. Fragrant aromatics of spices, apple and pear with citrus notes. Round, even and smooth with flavours of quince and pear. Some texture and persistent flavours.
Thomas Block: Located two kilometres east of the township of McLaren Vale this low lying, hence relatively cool site consists of predominantly deep alluvial clays layered with seams of river bed gravel and stone. The two separate vineyard parcels selected for the Pinot Gris are hand pruned and hand picked. Low yields and careful inputs of precious irrigation water result in healthy, unstressed vines that produce fruit with exceptional concentration of flavour and natural balance.
VINTAGE: A cool season, with strong vine growth enforcing the importance of viticultural management which resulted in the generation of great flavours at harvest. The rain events were regular in the lead up to picking so the vineyards did not require any irrigation. The fruit flavours are vibrant and structured resulting in fabulous wines across all varieties.
