O'Leary Walker Watervale Riesling 2010 |

This wine displays great purity of lime, lemon with hints of musk and fennel and is a great example of 2010 vintage. Slighty warmer season the fruit punch is slightly bigger and more powerful. The palate is fine, yet intensely limey and long with a clean, crisp naturally acidic finish and balance.
This Watervale vineyard has classic red loam over limestone, with a westerly aspect. The vineyard is hand pruned and hand picked and relies only on natural rainfall. The limestone tends to hold moisture and assist the vine in hot periods, almost drought proofing in the summer months. With vertical shoot positioning which not only encourages even ripening but also provides important shade to prevent the negative impact of sun burn on the resultant wine.
Fruit was hand harvested with each section of the vineyard kept separate in our many small tanks. At the winery the fruit is de-stemmed and given a gentle crush to burst the individual berries. The finest quality free run juice is chilled to 5 degrees celcius and to preserve the expression of the fruit, not filtered prior to ferment. Racked off lees after four days and yeasted with a natural yeast. The wine is chilled in tanks post fermentation, then filtered once prior to bottling.
