  Haha Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Haha Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.gif

This is a classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc (a region which, to be honest, produces some of the best examples of the varietal in the world courtesy of its cool climate, soil, and clean air), though I wont say it’s run of the mill by any stretch. White gold in colour the nose is a heavy bouquet of aromatic passionfruit and gooseberries lifted by lime zest. These elements are all evident on the palate, with sweeter passionfruit and tart gooseberry making for excellent fruit richness leading to a clean and dry finish with a good amount of lime.

A fabulously good looking sauvignon, the inviting bouquet shows stone fruit, feijoa and musk characters with a touch of herbaceous notes. It's succulent and beautifully weighted on the palate with excellent intensity, backed by fine texture and lengthy finish. The wine offers abundance of delicious flavours.

Winestate Lifted, herbaceous bouquet. Fresh, green-edged style with punchy, capsicum-like flavours and lots of youthful impact.

Raymond Chan, 4 Stars
Bright even straw-yellow colour with pale green hues on rim. This has a fresh and elegant nose with aromatic gooseberry fruit entwined with subtle tropical fruit, lime and grassy notes. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is elegantly proportioned and accessible with lifted, aromatic gooseberry, citrus and white floral fruits. The palate has good intensity and a softly concentrated core, along with mouthwatering acidity providing a gentle liveliness and linearity. The flavours carry through to a long, lingering, delicately nuanced finish of gooseberries and passionfruit. This is an elegant, aromatic and accessible Sauvignon Blanc with a soft and lively palate. Serve as an aperitif, with salads and vegetables and Pacific Rim fare over the next 2 years. Fruit from the Waihopi and Wairau Valleys, coolfermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and 1.3 g/L RS.
