We are so used to hearing all the negativity about Victoria's not so spectacular 2011 vintage, that we forget 2011 was one of the best vintages the Margaret River had seen! Here is your chance to get your hot little hands on a wine that emulates just how great 2011 really was for the old Margs!
Breathe in the lively bouquet of citrus and grass before savouring the tight and elegant fruit flavours of nectarine, pear and citrus lemon. This is a clean and fresh wine with a subtle depth of flavour that rounds out with a pleasing mouth feel and uplifting finish. The glass shows off a vibrancy that is matched with flickers of gold through the settling liquid. The aromas are immediately attractive with a tropical feel. There is rockmelon and honeydew and the forefront, followed by some quince and subtle citrus-lemon notes, peach and apple blossom. The palate is quickly coated in all corners. Crisp granny smith apple is the stand out on the outset, then followed by a lovely warm oaky feel. The rockmelon is delicate and sits playfully with a subtle acidity that then reveals the lemon. The lemon comes through so nicely towards the end, and just sort of lingers for a while... quite delightful! The finish is balanced with a touch of oaky spice.
My advice: Don't chill this wine too much. It is a delicate little wall-flower that needs to be enjoyed at a modest temperature.
