Some Pinot Gris is just better than others. Fact! This little ripper is just what the wine doctor ordered to increase your faith in a wine varietal that competes alongside Chardonnay as a thinking persons food wine. Pale straw coloured, with pale engaging light pink hues, this wine grabs your attention as perfect for summer from the get go.
A lovely smidge of floral notes with aromas of summer Beurre Bosc pear and vanilla wafers.
The palate takes you on a journey however with a complex wine of medium body, light to medium alcohol and a light, lingering sweetness. The Deakin Estate 2009 Pinot Gris is nicely balanced, with a smooth, rounded mouthfeel and a refreshingly acidic finish. All in all , perfect summer wine chilled and with some food and of course good friends where you can smartly let them know you have a wine merchant who "Looks after you!"
Vinification: The fruit for the Deakin Estate 2009 Pinot Grigio was harvested when the flavours, sugars and acid levels were judged to be in balance. The juice was then fermented, undergoing a cool, slow ferment in stainless steel, temperature controlled tanks. Rigorous fining trials followed before the finished product was allowed to go to bottle.
