Browns Myra Family Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 |
| |
|
|
Derived from the Limestone Coast region of South Australia, home to some of the most distinctive Cabernet Sauvignon grapes on the planet, this 2006 Reserve is a classic example of patient winemaking and varietal expression.
Mid red in colour; with a classic Cabernet nose of cassis (blackcurrant; some know it as Ribena...) and plums, with hints of mint and eucalypt, plus slightly sweeter notes of violets and roast tomato. The early palate is gentle, before the varietal Cabernet fruit gets into the picture, and suddenly it oozes plum, cassis and soy, before subtle oak and dry tannins provide admirable length and persistence.
"This is mulberried, leathery and full of fresh berry flavour, the extra couple of years in bottle softening it beautifully. It drinks like a charm and should be sought out (and after). Wonderful red drinking." Big Red Wine Book 2009/2010, Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (Australia), May 2009.
