Mcpherson Blue Reef Shiraz Cabernet 2008 |

A powerhouse of a wine, bursting with ripe fruit flavours such as spicy dark plums, blackberries, black olives and a slight hint of mint. A tight palate structure reveals more of the same, but with the addition of some lovely, cedary oak and some fine, dusty tannins resulting in a medium weight, well-balanced wine.
Delicious ripe plums and juicy redcurrants dominate the nose and palate, along with hints of chocolate and some really intriguing christmassy fruit spice. Judicious oak handling adds wonderful complexity to the wine and at this price is simply irresistible.
The growing season in 2008 started very well with a cool spring and good rains vital during the growing season. Harvesting began a little earlier than usual, nevertheless small berry sizes and lighter bunch weights complimented by high sugar levels produced ripe, rich and intense flavours in the berries.
