Olssen Second Six Red Blend 2007 |

OK, so now the wine writers are all coming back to the more refined styles with plenty of zing but need some time to show their wordly goods!
Here is a beautiful wine!Engaging with thought provoking aromatics of cassis, herbs, dark fruits and tobacco wrapped with oak and spice to boot! The components are aged for 17 months in French Oak.
A wine like this you take home, nestle into a jug for dinner and wait for an hour or so before adventuring to the first sip! The wait a bit longer and have another look. Two days later it just gets better and better!
James Halliday 2010 "A fragrant blend of red fruits and plenty of spice; the palate displays a sweet core of bright red fruits, with a soft and generous conclusion; a well constructed blend. Merlot/Petit Verdot/Cabernet Sauvignon/Malbec/Carmenere/Cabernet Franc. Screwcap. 13.5% alc. Rating 92 $25 Date Tasted Jan 10"
Situated in a beautiful secluded valley north west of Watervale, the Olssen vineyard benefits from the shading effect of the steep valley sides, resulting in estate grown wines of great finesse and elegance.
Helen and Kevin Olssen moved to the valley from Adelaide in 1987 and since 1994 have been producing wines under their own label. The range now includes Riesling, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mataro, Primitivo, Late Harvest Riesling, Carmenere and Shiraz.
The Olssens' aim is to produce only limited quantities of high quality wines from their thirty-two hectares of vines. This unique vineyard in its wonderfully picturesque setting is one of Clare's best kept secrets.
