Chris Hill Reserve Barossa Valley Shiraz 2006 |

A wonderful vintage is the backbone of this elegant, Barossa Shiraz with dark cherry and deep summer ripened plum notes and a pepper/spice yet lightly tannic finish. A compliment to the wine maker here on a job brilliantly executed in all respects.
An agreeably rich and dry style Shiraz, given the nature of Barossa fruit. It is more reminiscent of cooler Langhorne Creek and boy is it amazingly satisfying! A perfect combination of rich fruit and dry tannins. This is one wine that will certainly be the talk of the BBQ this Spring!
You'll be sure to back a winner with this consistent producer and your friends will keep coming back for more...probably best to share your secret source on this before they drink you out of house and home!
Dark berries and roasted coffee dominates the bouquet. The palate has rich cherry flavours with hints of vanillin oak and earthy spice providing balance and complexity.
The deep, brooding red colour coats the glass and the long, elegant “legs” hint at a wine that is rich, full bodied and high in alcohol. The bouquet captures the essence of a typical Barossa farmers market with fresh red berries, roasted coffee beans, smoked meats and spicy sausage lingering in the air. The heady aroma is evocative and intoxicating while the palate opens with marinated cherries, smoky oak, white pepper and spice. The flavours continue to grow as the wine warms on your tongue with hints of licorice, eucalypt and mocha. The earthy, gamey characters follow to the long, dry finish with gentle tannins and warming alcohol giving a lasting sense of enjoyment.
Staff Tasting: A restrained Barossa Shiraz with dark cherry and plum notes and a pepper/spice yet lightly tannic finish. Nice drop. Tasters: TE, MM, CN.
