"Clean and fresh dry white wine, showing a little citrus and straw; some nettle comes through on the palate, and the finish is fresh, crisp and light, which is the ultimate aim of the style. Screwcap." - James Halliday.
Colour: Pale straw.
Bouquet: Intense lemon and orange blossom and some grassy notes combine with subtle tropical aromas of passionfruit and pineapple.
Palate: A lively, zesty wine showing citrus and grassy flavours. The light and refreshing finish has a balanced and long fruit core.
Vintage Conditions: A continued dry spell affected much of the fruit development during the vintage period but late spring rains provided a well timed boost to the vines and encouraged fruit development. The following months leading through ripening and up to harvest proved to be mild and dry, assisting the fruit to develop well-balanced characters.
Vinification and Maturation: For this special blend the fruit was picked earlier in the harvest to achieve a lower alcohol level in the final wine. The grapes were harvested in the cool of the night and at differing maturity levels to allow a good array of both tropical and herbaceous notes in the final wine. The finest free-run juice was chilled and settled, then racked before fermentation. Alcoholic fermentation was conducted with specially selected yeast strains to produce characters that enhance the natural fruit flavours and contribute elegance to the wine. The finished wine was then filtered and bottled under screw cap to preserve all of the aromatic fruit characters.
