The Pupil Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2014

2014 Pupil Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.gif

Brilliant focused fruit quality with instant aromatic engagement from gooseberry, passionfruit and hints of spice. The excellent swoosh of lip smacking flavour as always defines this varietal although there is a refreshing length and complexity to this wine that develops from the start. The wine is multi dimensional with length, acidity, complex flavour profile and an engaging, thought provoking character. This is more than just an average Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, it is a defining example that stimulates the senses and is amazingly satisfying!

The aromas from this wine are amazing and seriously intense. A couple of swirls and it is musk & passionfruit that is at the forefront. The tropical notes are out in force, with delicate rockmelon and honeydew mixing things up a bit. There is faint asparagus here as well as gooseberry. You can smell the minerality which seems to mingle with honeysuckle. Quite a fascinating bouquet.

On the palate the passionfruit is there, mixed in with luscious fruit and crisp acidity can all be accredited to that one flavour, but as that starts to settle you get a real snapshot of what this wine is about. And that is asparagus and gooseberry. They appear under the radar at first, then they start rolling in from the sides.

Representing some of the best varietal statements around Australia and New Zealand, The Scholars series of wines sources the best wine we can from each region and bottles the for you to enjoy as a statement of pure passionate wine making skill and ultra premium regional quality!
