Wow! I can't imagine a sparkling wine this good is in the sub-$50 category, let alone at this price... Wonderful layers of complexity that see both fruit and yeast age characters enhancing each other. Hints of almond biscuit and toasty coconut characters only prepare your palate for the feast that is to come. The flavours of the citrus integrate beautifully with the bread dough from the wines time on tirage. The finish is long and delightful.
Clover Hill 2001 is crafted according to traditional champagne methods from classic sparkling wine varietals – chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier. The wine is matured on lees in its bottle for 3 years. It contains components of selected reserve wines aged in French oak foudres – which ensure the unique personality that is the Clover Hill house style. A supreme sparkling wine, Clover Hill 2001 has a crisp, graceful, rich palate with excellent length and lasting flavour – destined to delight.
‘CLOVER HILL 2001 AWARDED GOLD AT THE ROYAL HOBART INTERNATIONAL WINE SHOW’
Since its debut in 1994, with the launch of the 1991 vintage, Clover Hill has impressed both the local and international wine scene with its uncompromising quality and distinguished house style. Previous vintages have collected gold from Adelaide, Perth, Cairns and Hobart wine shows and been awarded trophies from the international show circuit; including the London International Wine & Spirit Competition. Clover Hill 1998 and Clover Hill 1999 were awarded ‘Australasian Sparkling Wine of the Year’ by Winestate.
Drink this fabulous style well into 2008, if you can hang onto it!
