Michael Cooper "The 2007 vintage is a stylish wine, full and rounded (4 grams/litre of residual sugar), with ripe passionfruit and lime flavours, showing excellent delicacy and richness." Michael Cooper's Buyer's Guide to New Zealand Wines 2008 New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc is acclaimed throughout the world as the definitive benchmark style for the varietal. Its exuberant, pungent flavours have dazzled wine critics everywhere. Oz Clarke summed up the impact of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc in his Wine Atlas when he wrote, "No previous wine had shocked, thrilled, entranced the world before with such brash, unexpected flavours of gooseberries, passionfruit and lime, or crunchy green asparagus spears . . . an entirely new, brilliantly successful wine style that the rest of the world has been attempting to copy ever since". The golden rule with Sauvignon Blanc is "fresh is best". The vibrant flavours of Sauvignon Blanc enhance the freshness of seafood and white fish especially when served with citrus or garlic based sauces. Crunchy summer salads and capsicums both find a flattering echo of flavour in Sauvignon Blanc, while relatively high acid foods, such as tomatoes, and vinegar-based dressings also make a appealing match.
Well here we are with a ripper of a multi award winning wine in both Australia and NZ taking out Double Medals and the all important Blue Gold! I have sourced this wine in such large quantities that the price is below $11- flat out around Australia and will sell like Hot Cakes. This is the fabulous 2007 vintage and it is a ripper! Hurry before this container runs dry! A prima Donna of Sauvignon Blanc all grassy and decidedly elegant Sauvignon Blanc style with the expected aromatic up front notes of fresh New Zealand Savvy. Fresh, dry, crisp nose with some mild, floral aromatics and a touch of citrus. Lovely mouthfeel here with impact and length is fine and generous, with intense fruit flavours. Mid palate has good weight and a lovely passage of delicate finished weight both crisply citric and singularly fine. Very classy wine, and a delight to offer.

A really vibrant mid-red with purple / violet hues colouration gives this yummy Pinot a head start. The bouquet has enticing blackcurrant, plum and violet characters, supported by spicy white pepper and savoury notes. A seriously scrumptious supple wine with concentrated, fresh fruit flavours, fine tannins and a clean crisp finish. Drinking well now, this wine will continue to drink well up to 2010. |

Psst! The 2007 Waipara Hills SB has just won a Blue Gold in Sydney
The colour of this wonderful wine is pale straw with light platinum tints and a sensational, alluring lustre. On the nose, it really explodes with massive aromas of lychee and background hints of strawberry, kiwifruit and passionfruit and fresh aromas of cut grass. The bouquet leads into explosive flavours of gooseberry, blackcurrant and fresh, garden herbs. The palate is dry and crisp with a fine acidity to balance the pungent array of flavours that linger on the finish. Rates 94/100 |
