Chris Hill Beechworth Pinot Noir 2007 |
|
|
 |
|
The cold growing conditions of Beechworth in the Victorian Alps produce elegant, rich Pinot Noir. It’s a notoriously difficult variety to grow and a constant challenge for winemakers, but with careful clonal selection and the right terroir, it produces stunning medium to full bodied wines with layers of flavour and a velvety soft finish. It has a silky texture, juicy richness and supple tannins so typical of this style.
The vineyard was originally planted over ten years ago and is now fully mature producing luscious wines with richness and intensity. I’ve released this batch after only 12 months maturation while the youthful, red berry fruit freshness compliments the gamey, earthy complexity on the mid palate. It’s ready to be enjoyed now until 2012.
It’s a wonderfully food friendly wine that partners with a wide range of dishes but is outstanding with game, poultry and classic slow cooked casseroles.
Additional Notes:
The fruit for this wine was sourced from the same vineyard that supplies a reputable, premium Australian producer. Their Pinot Noir is available at Cellar door for $30.00 per bottle. The same winemaker made this wine
This could simpy be all you ever looked for in a Pinot Noir and had not been able to find!

Kooyong is located on the Mornington Peninsula at Tuerong and focuses on producing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wine; which are both suited to the Peninsula’s cool maritime climate.
Aromatically fragrant and an approachable fruit driven wine. Dominated by red and black cherry with supporting earth and spice aromas this is an inviting wine from first pull of the cork. The palate is all cherry and spice notes with pronounced solid minerality. Currently the wine is very youthful with bright acidity and supporting firm but very fine tannins. Showing plenty of promise for further development.
With careful cellaring, this wine has very good potential for ageing. |

A succulent and complex Pinot Noir showing smouldering savoury and gamey character. Layers of rich dark plum and cherry, heady spice and perfumed f loral notes abound. The finely concentrated palate shows suppleness and complexity followed with a lengthy smooth finish, traditional of Martinborough Vineyard Pinot Noir. This is a classic wine that shows the elegance, harmony and sophistication required for longevity. Enjoy 2008 through to 2025. |
