I love higher altitude vineyards producing premium quality fruit. The preceding vintages of this lovely wine have received ravenous accolades and 94 pts, so when the 'Terra Rossa' of perfect quick draining Basalt over Limestone is added, we should agree it is a pretty heady mix of all the good things coming beautifully together!
Here is a Boutique winery-made monster! Immediately powerful in colour, this wine entices you with its magnificent legs from the very first lazy swirl in the glass. A heady palate construction blows me away with a rich tapestry of mid sweet fruit, lovely engaging tannins and an engrossing thought provoking length. Perfectly aged now with some 5 years behind it, I bought the entire stocks of this wine because it is so good!
I am not sure how the markets will fair this year with all the ups and downs of the US, but a really safe bet would be a stack of this wine in your cellar to enjoy at your leisure. Good, better, best, you have to have some to test!
