Alpha Zeta S Soave 2008 |

Garganega is a variety of white Italian wine grape widely grown in the Veneto region of North East Italy, particularly in the provinces of Verona and Vicenza. It is Italy's 6th most widely planted white grape. It forms the basis of Venetian white wine Soave and is also a major portion of the blend used to make Gambellara.
Light lemon yellow in colour, with an open, expressive perfume of white flowers and almond blossom. On the palate it is light and crisp with a zesty, lemon-lime fruit character and a gentle roundness. Very fresh finish.
Alpha Zeta/Il Faggio was started in 1999 when leading New Zealand winemaker Matt Thomson, set out to produce a range of modern, fruit driven wines from the hills outside Verona. Their aim was to work with growers rather than buy bulk wine, which is standard among most wines from Verona at this price. To maximize ripening potential, they reduced yields and picked later. The result is a realisation of the huge potential inherent in Veronese viti and vinification.
